Business systems - your processes and procedures - rely on people,
don't they?
But say "Human Resources" to most people and the last
thing they will think of is people! Most people's impression of
Human Resources is framed by a series of interactions with a person
or persons who seem to be focused on forms, rules, constraints,
conditions and a general sense of dissatisfaction. The odd positive
experience really stands out.
Macro Perspectiv takes its name from the idea of turning things
around by 180 degrees - seeing things from the perspective of the
consumer of the services or user of the process or procedure. Taking
the bigger perspective - a macro perspectiv.
This may seem like a minor point, but common experience indicates
that HR is usually weighted heavily towards making employees fit
into the organisation, rather than helping them to grow into it.
Compliance rather than enrolment.
Just by changing perspective, the language changes. HR is now talking
to "you" instead of "the employee." You're reading
about what you can do, and how it will help you,
rather than what you can't, must, or must not do.
The result? The people, those humans we talk about as resources,
who work with us in our company, are on-side,
enrolled and empowered. At the very least, they don't feel alienated
by the very people who are supposed to look after their human
needs.
So easy, isn't it. Just by adopting the right perspective.
